POTA offers scholarships to students currently enrolled in accredited occupational therapy programs within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Six $500 scholarships will be awarded to students meeting all application criteria and, subsequently, being approved to receive the scholarship through the Scholarship Selection Committee of POTA. Preference is given to OTR students enrolled in the last two years of an accredited or developing Master or doctoral degree program and to students enrolled in the last year of an OTA program.
The application process commences during the fall of the year. Scholarship information is announced on the POTA website at www.pota.org in October. Application forms and materials can be downloaded from this website. A Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of POTA Board members will review all applications and will recommend scholarship recipients. Scholarship recipients will be announced in May and each recipient will receive a $500 check from POTA to be applied to educational costs at the beginning of the new fiscal year in July.
This year, the scholarship fund is given in memory of Helen Hopkins.
Gail Fidler
The 2009 POTA Scholarship is being given in memory of Dr. Gail Fidler. Dr. Fidler was a contributor to occupational therapy in the mental health area through her strong and lifelong commitment to education, publication, and the promotion of the profession.. Her writings about object relations and her belief that occupational therapy could, in fact, become ,"a laboratory of life" are still utilized and valued today. |
Please make every attempt to remit all information requested for scholarship consideration at the same time, rather than separately. This will aid the Scholarship Committee's thorough review of your scholarship information. Thank you.
